If you've ever seen the popular History Channel show, Swamp People, then you probably know Troy and Jacob Landry. On October 8th, these gator hunting reality stars from Pierre Part, LA paid a visit to Nichols in Many. Over 1,200 fans passed thru the doors of Nichols to shake hands, take a picture and get an autograph from "The King of the Swamp" and his son. The popularity of the show has taken Troy and Jacob all over the country in the last year. With Louisiana gator season ending on September 30, Nichols was one of the first stops on their list after a successful hunting season for the duo. According to Troy, they captured 500 gators in the one month season with the largest being over 13 feet.

During the event, a key to the city presentation was made to Troy and Jacob by Many Mayor Ken Key PresentationFreeman. The Landry's were very appreciative of the honor given to them by the town and they thanked everyone for coming out to greet them. Also on hand for the ceremony was Debbie Nichols, Nichols store owner, Mrs. Freeman and Wright's shopping center owner, Bobby Williams.

Debbie Nichols, a Swamp People fan since the show debut, and her Gator Crew, consisting of friends and Nichols employees, did a great job of making sure the event ran smoothly. Security was provided by Many Chief of Police Roger Freeman and his officers as well as officers from the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Department. Entertaining the crowd with a mix of Cajun and country music was DJ Doug Creighton of Many.

After greeting fans for over 4 hours, Troy and Jacob, said their goodbyes to Sabine and headed South in their custom wrapped truck with their likenesses on the side. We will have to wait until next year to see Swamp People Season 3 which is sure to be bigger and better than ever. Choot'em!
