In 1914, the first Nichols was founded by H.A. Nichols in DeQuincy, Louisiana from savings accumulated while working at a sawmill for $1.50 per day. In 1934, after attending college at Louisiana State University, T.D. Nichols began working with his father in DeQuincy. After working with his father for many years T.D. Nichols assumed ownership of all Nichols stores after the death of his father in 1948. Mr. Nichols was ready for the challenge and hit the ground running. |
| For the next 20 years, Mr. T.D. Nichols worked diligently and, in 1968, opened the first of many discount centers in numerous surrounding towns such as Many, Leesville, Winnfield, and Coushatta. Before he knew it, he had an entire chain of Nichols Discount stores across central Louisiana. His daughter, Debbie Nichols, was born into the business and worked with her father constantly from the time she was a small girl. She worked diligently with her father and in 1997, after the death of Mr. T.D. Nichols, she took over the job her father had done for so long. Debbie also had ideas she wanted to try, such as incorporating giftware into the stores and plans for expansions and renovations. In 2003, Nichols, in conjunction with Toledo Bend Motors, introduced the first of many Big Buck contests to the Sabine Parish area. |  T. D. Nichols |

Today, Nichols has five stores located in Many, Leesville, Winnfield, Coushatta, and DeQuincy, Louisiana. The DeQuincy store is owned and operated by the L.L. (Rusty) Irwin Family. Debbie and Rusty work in conjunction with one another in several aspects of the business such as buying, inventory control and planning. A central warehouse is located in Many, Louisiana and supplies all five store locations with most of the 500+ merchandise lines they carry. Currently the 90 year old business prides itself on delivering quality merchandise at reasonable prices to its customers. Whether it be sporting goods, gifts, hardware, boots, camouflage, or workwear, Nichols has your needs covered. |
